People frequently make ethical choices they later regret. Causal Loop Archetypes offer a basic systems framework for analyzing the unintended consequences of personal and professional ethical decisions. Pressure or enticement or defensiveness can stymie individuals’ rational sensemaking. Causal Loop Thinking, and in particular the “Fixes That Fail” Archetype, draw on the familiar decision model of identifying the problem, specifying the alternative courses of action andtheir consequences, to guide our final choice. As students grapple with their own conflicts and business school (...)

Conflict of Interest in the Procurement of Organs from Cadavers Following Withdrawal of Life Support.Byers W. Shaw - 1993 - Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal 3 (2):179-187.
The University of Pittsburgh policy for procuring organs from non-heart-beating cadaver donors recognizes the potential for conflicts of interest between caring for a "hopelessly ill" patient who has forgone life-sustaining treatment and caring for a potential organ donor. While such a separation is possible in theory, it is difficult or impossible to attain in practice. (...)

    Who is God?D. W. D. Shaw - 1968 - London,: S.C.M. Press.
This book looks at all the problems of 'God-talk' today and examines some of the answers which have been attempted. Do we talk of God as a 'who' or a 'what'? Is he up there or down here, in or around? What do we mean by saying that God is love? Why and how are certain qualities 'omni-business'? As he develops the outlines of an answer for an age which is haunted by questions, Mr Shaw shows that this issue (...)

    W. E. B. Du Bois and the EVOLUTION OF ‘RACE’.Stephanie J. Shaw - 2022 - Southern Journal of Philosophy 60 (S1):73-101.
This essay situates the major works of W.E.B. Du Bois and some of his minor work between the 1880s and 1940 in the historical context of black people's writing about race since the eighteenth century. In offering examples of the evolution of black thinking and writing on this topic, it views Du Bois's work in the context of Moral and Ethical Philosophy (rather than the more obvious History, Sociology, and Political Economics) in order to reveal his efforts as a disruption, (...)

Body integrity identity disorder is a very rare condition in which people experience long-standing anguish because there is a mismatch between their bodies and their internal image of how their bodies should be. Most typically, these people are deeply distressed by the presence of what they openly acknowledge as a perfectly normal leg. Some with the condition request that their limb be amputated. 1 We and others have argued that such requests should be acceded to in carefully selected patients.1–4 Consistent (...)
